HERE WE GO!

365 Days/365 Plays, Week 8 January 1-7, 2007

Polybe + Seats brings 365 to Brooklyn, transforming a gallery, a church, a bar and a kitchen store into performance sites for the first seven plays of the new year. We'll also have a day of performances at the Public Theater in Manhattan. Come to the location that strikes your fancy, or come to all five. We'll even give you a snack.
At each of our five performances, we will perform the seven plays that Suzan-Lori Parks wrote for Week 8: Here We Go; We Are Fresh Out of Canned Laughter, Get Some Off the Television; 2 Marys; The News is Here; The Star of India; The Birth of Tragedy; and Call Girl. What changes is the venue – and the snacks. Please scroll down for information about each performance.

ABOUT 365 Days/365 Plays
In November 2002, the Pulitzer prize-winning Suzan-Lori Parks sat down and committed to writing a play a day for the next 365 days. The world premiere of this play cycle will be performed as a yearlong national festival simultaneously in major cities and communities around the country. The Public will spearhead the New York component 365 Days/365 Plays by gathering together a widely diverse cross-section of over 75 New York theater companies to participate in this project.

We return to our friends at UnionDocs for the opening night of our week of 365 Days/365 Plays. What's more natural for an opening night in a gallery than wine and cheese?

Thursday, January 4th @ 8pm
Greenpoint Reformed Church Click for directions
138 Milton Street
Greenpoint

Situated in a gorgeous Victorian mansion off Greenpoint's main drag, the Greenpoint Reformed Church gives us a good feeling whenever we step inside. Their stained-glass-filled social hall will be our home for the evening, and we invite you to join us for an ice-cream social after the show.

Friday, January 5th @ 8pm
Pete's Candy Store Click for directions
709 Lorimer Street
Williamsburg

We don't know about you, but when we're in Williamsburg (which is often), it's a pretty sure bet we'll stop by Pete's at some point. A real neighborhood watering hole and a great venue for music, comedy, and readings, Pete's Candy Store and Here We Go were a natural match. Afterwards, we'll give you snacks that go with beer. Think salty and crunchy.

Saturday, January 6th @ 8pm
The Brooklyn Kitchen Click for directions
616 Lorimer Street
Williamsburg

The Brooklyn Kitchen, a newly-opened kitchenware store, is our new favorite place to feel like the proverbial kid in the candy store. Cooking, like theater, can feel like magic when it's done right, and then there are all those fabulous toys! Show up a little early for a cake-baking demonstration and stick around afterwards to eat the cake!

Sunday, January 7th @ 3pm & 7pm
The Public/Shiva Theater Click for directions

This will be Polybe + Seats' Off-Broadway debut. We're honored to be able to participate in this First Sundays series event, showing our plays alongside those of weeks 4 through 7.
